Internship Blog: How to Update Your Kitchen on a Budget

With the beginning of summer, comes a lot of remodeling… or so we’ve noticed. A lot of people like to update parts of their home before school starts up again or to be ready in time for the holidays or to get ready to sell their property! Whatever the reason, we’ve come up with a few budget friendly options for updating the basics of your kitchen. Most of these products such as the backsplash tile and lighting are going to last quite a good amount of time, while the counters we’ve chosen are really meant for temporary fixes such as a rental. Keep in mind, unless you have the ability to do the remodel yourself, there will also be added labor and instillation costs but the overall product list is made for a budget friendly remodel!

Option 1:

Light Fixtures // Wall Paint // Cabinet Paint // Backsplash // Countertop // Faucet // Hardware // Bar Chairs

We love this warm yet chic kitchen selection! The dark, olive green cabinets match really well with the backsplash and the black iron fixture & hardware blend so well into that color combination. We matched it with the cozy black, leather rotating bar chairs that have a gorgeous wooden frame to add to the coziness of the space.

Option 2:

Light Fixtures // Wall Paint // Cabinet Paint // Backsplash // Countertop // Faucet // Hardware // Bar Chairs

Cape Cod meets Bohemian, perhaps? This is a super soft color palette for a kitchen that is bright and airy with blonde wood accents. Wooden countertops do have some drawbacks from the way they handle water and dents compared to various stones, however, for some this is ideal because the whole space is a butcher’s block and it also creates a very warm feel for a space that can typically be pretty cold.

Option 3:

Light Fixtures // Wall Paint // Cabinet Paint // Backsplash // Countertop // Faucet // Hardware // Bar Chairs

A glamorous kitchen on a budget! Since that is the case, this countertop is laminate with a marble effect. But it can be argued that laminate is actually more durable than marble, especially considering all of marble’s major drawbacks (easily stained, not super heat resistant, etc.) These laminate counters have 25-year warranty… We paired the products with gold hardware and fixtures, antique style island lighting, and some fun, acrylic bar chairs that are “barely-there.”

Option 4:

Light Fixtures // Wall Paint & Cabinet Paint // Backsplash // Countertop // Faucet // Hardware // Bar Chairs

We love a good black & white kitchen. Clean and streamlined, this modern design is still very affordable! These “marble” countertops are laminate as well and come with the same, incredibly long warranty. Chrome fixtures with black accents keep the monochromatic color scheme together. We added that gorgeous lucite hardware with chrome accenting to blend into the all white space.

Option 5:

Light Fixtures // Wall Paint // Cabinet Paint // Backsplash // Countertop // Faucet // Hardware // Bar Chairs

This contemporary, mid-century, bohemian kitchen selection has no boundaries! Blending natural wood grain with a graphic backsplash with gold fixtures & hardware with jute island lighting makes this space eloquently eclectic! It’s a very bright space that still feels extremely comfortable and inviting.
